The new Sora 2 software creates AI films, and the results are magical.

Sora 2 by OpenAI: Create Stunning AI Videos from Text and Images in Seconds

Many AI apps and sites can make videos based on your input and other data. OpenAI by Sora is one of the newest services that people are talking about. Sora is an app for iOS and the web that enables you make short videos with a lot of cool effects.

The Sora app and website make films in a few seconds depending on your word descriptions. They use OpenAI‘s Sora 2 model. You can add sound effects and dialogue to your video that match up with what others are saying. You can also pick the style, which might be anything from animated to photorealistic to bizarre.
Your video can be as long as 10 seconds, and by default, it will be in a 9:16 vertical aspect ratio. You can start your film with a text description or submit a still picture that you want to move.

The new Sora also has a social media twist. You can upload your videos to the online community so that other people can see them. You can also get a head start by remixing other people’s videos.

Sora 2 is only accessible in the US and Canada for now, but it will soon be available in other places, such as the UK, the EU, and Australia. The mobile software is only available for iOS right now, but OpenAI says it will make an Android version at some point.

Sora has been around since last year, but Sora 2 is new.

OpenAI showed off its first Sora video generator in February 2024, but it didn’t come out for real until December of that year. You’ve been able to change the length, speed, aspect ratio, and more of videos in addition to making them based on text descriptions. Like a professional film director, you could also fine-tune it by using individual storyboards. The new version with the Sora 2 model can do harder jobs than the old one.
But keep in mind that Sora has some limits. The most important one has to do with people. If you attempt to create a film featuring realistic representations of people, Sora may refuse your request and inform you that it could violate its guidelines.

How to make videos with Sora 2 that are made by AI

What you need: The primary problem right now is that the new Sora is only open to people who have been invited, and it’s hard to receive an invitation. But if you can get an invitation, you should definitely try this new flavor of Sora. I will explain how I have utilized it and how you can do the same.

1. Get the Sora app

To utilize the software, go to the software store on your Apple device and download and install Sora. Open the app and either sign in or create a new ChatGPT account. When asked, type in your invite code. If not, click the link to find out when access opens. You will be asked to allow alerts. Tap “Allow” to get a message when your invite code is ready.

2. Get the Sora app ready
You can make and upload a Cameo test video of yourself after you first open the Sora app. Click the Get Started button and follow the steps to do this. Then, you’ll see a settings screen where you can choose some preferences for your account.

3. Make an account on the Sora website
If you want to use the web method, go to the Sora website and log in using your ChatGPT account. Thereafter, you may make the Cameo video and change the settings on your account.

4. Watch more videos
You might want to look at some other videos before you make your own. On the app, click the search icon in the bottom toolbar. Click the search icon in the toolbar on the left side of the website. You can look for a certain creator by name. If not, swipe down on the screen in the app and tap on the thumbnails of any films that look intriguing to watch. To see the video play, move your mouse over a thumbnail on the webpage. You can then click on the video to see it on its page and leave a comment.

5. Make your first video
To make your first video with the Sora app, touch the plus sign on the toolbar to see the prompt. For this one, I asked the AI to make a film of a woman with red hair riding a dragon over the clouds.

6. Look at the video that was made
When the video is done, tap the symbol for your profile at the bottom. A little picture of the video shows up. To play it, tap the thumbnail. The video lasts for 10 seconds and has sound effects and a voiceover.

7. Make a video on the site
To make a video on the Sora 2 website, put your description in the box that pops up. To change the orientation from portrait to landscape, click the Settings icon. I asked Sora to make a film about a man fishing and catching the Loch Ness Monster with his bait. When you’re ready, click the arrow to send in your prompt.

8. Check out the new video
When the video is done, click on your profile picture on the left bar. To see the video, click on the thumbnail.

9. Change the video
You can change the video in a few different ways. To change the description, choose the video and then click or press the pencil symbol. You can also click the Edit Video button to add a new instruction to the prompt. I asked the AI to make the monster bigger for this one. Then, Sora changes the video and makes a new one based on the new information.

10. Make a picture move
You can begin your film with a picture that doesn’t move. Click the plus sign in the website prompt and the photo icon in the app prompt to do this. When I originally tried this with a picture of the actors from the Fantastic Four movie, Sora notified me that the content broke its rules. Next, I looked at a picture of knights in armor at a Renaissance fair. But Sora still said no, telling me that it doesn’t allow uploads of pictures with lifelike individuals.
This time, I picked a picture of a raven near London Bridge and tried again. I told Sora to make the raven say, “Nevermore,” and then fly away. This time, Sora agreed to my request and made a cool movie of the raven talking and then flying over the bridge into the sky.

11. Change the video of someone else
You can even remix someone else’s video in addition to making your own from scratch. To achieve this, go to the search page and click on the small picture of a video that interests you. Click the Remix button, then tell us what modifications you want to make. I selected a video featuring an animated donut character and requested Sora to transform it into a bagel character adorned with lox and cream cheese. The AI not only performed the alteration, but it also changed the dialog to call it a “bagel man” instead of a “donut man.”

12. Put your video online
You can also put your video online so that other Sora users can watch it and even change it. To accomplish this, go to your profile page and choose the video you want to share. Click or hit the Post button, and your video will be available for others to see.
